St. Simon Band
The St. Francis Elementary Band Program provides instruction in instrumental music for beginning and continuing students in Grades 4-8. Band instruction is offered twice weekly for a modest tuition. Instruments may be leased, borrowed, or purchased. Instruction takes place on school grounds before school with some overlap of school class hours. The student is responsible for any class instructions or work missed while at band.
Criteria for Earning a St. Simon Block “S” Band Award:
- 2 years of participation in the St. Simon band program
- 90% attendance
- a passing grade
- attendance at all required performances unless excused
A music emblem is added to the Block after 3 years of participation in band in addition to the criteria stated above, plus Honor Band participation if in Grades 7 or 8.
