About the Teacher Fund

The St. Simon PAG Teacher Fund was initiated in 1998 to help recruit and retain well-qualified and dedicated teachers. The Teacher Fund is a reimbursement program that encourages teachers to enhance their classroom performance by reimbursing them for continuing education, credential fees, supplementary materials and other productivity tools. The PAG Teacher Fund has raised over $1 million dollars since its inception, thanks to the generous donations from St. Simon families.

Donations to the Teacher Fund are placed in professionally-managed investment and money-market funds. The amount of the annual distribution is approved by the Teacher Fund Committee. Reimbursements for approved expenses are distributed annually to teachers and may vary from year to year based upon the fund balance, fundraising activities and portfolio performance. For more information, contact Alisanne Allen.

Committee Members

The Teacher Fund Committee members include representatives from the PAG Board, parent community, the St. Simon Parish Pastor and school Principal. The Teacher Fund Committee meets four times per year and seeks a two-year commitment from parent members.

Fundraising Activities

The major fund-raising activity for the Teacher Fund is the Annual St. Simon Walk-a-thon. It is a great family day with a barbecue, music and fun for everyone. The school spirit event is held at St. Francis High School in May of each year with over 200 students participating in the event — be sure not to miss it!
